Jewelry Care Guide
Your PAIJE jewelry is built to last a lifetime. With proper care, your pieces will maintain their brilliance for generations. Here's everything you need to know about caring for your lab-grown diamond jewelry.
Daily Care Essentials
How to Clean Your Diamond Jewelry at Home
Weekly cleaning (recommended):
- Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm (not hot) water.
- Soak your jewelry for 10-15 minutes.
- Gently brush with a soft-bristled toothbrush, paying attention to the underside of stones where oils and dirt collect.
- Rinse under clean warm water.
- Pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
Important: Never use harsh chemicals, bleach, acetone, or abrasive cleaners. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless recommended by a professional jeweler.
Proper Storage
Store each piece separately to prevent scratching. Use the PAIJE jewelry box or individual soft pouches. Keep jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Tip: Diamonds are the hardest material on earth (10 on Mohs scale), but they can scratch other gemstones and metals. Always store diamond pieces separately from other jewelry.
When to Remove Your Jewelry
Remove your jewelry before:
- Swimming — Chlorine and saltwater can damage metal settings and dull finishes
- Exercising — Sweat and impact can loosen settings
- Cleaning — Household chemicals can damage precious metals
- Sleeping — Reduces risk of catching prongs on fabric and bending delicate pieces
- Applying lotions, perfume, or hairspray — Product buildup dulls diamonds and coats metal surfaces
Metal-Specific Care
Different metals require slightly different maintenance. Here's how to care for each.
White Gold Care
White gold is plated with rhodium to achieve its bright white appearance. Over time (typically 12-18 months with daily wear), this plating may wear and reveal a slightly warm tone underneath.
Solution: Rhodium re-plating is a quick, affordable process available at any jeweler. PAIJE covers one complimentary re-plating under our lifetime warranty.
Yellow Gold Care
Yellow gold develops a warm patina over time that many people love. To maintain its original luster, clean regularly with mild soap and water. Yellow gold is slightly softer than white gold, so take care to avoid deep scratches.
Minor scratches can be buffed out by a professional jeweler during routine maintenance.
Rose Gold Care
Rose gold gets its color from copper alloy. Over time, it may develop a slightly deeper tone — this is natural and considered desirable by many. Clean with mild soap and water. Avoid exposing rose gold to chlorine, which can accelerate tarnishing.
Platinum Care
Platinum is the most durable precious metal for jewelry. It develops a natural matte patina over time that many people prefer. If you want to restore the original shine, a jeweler can polish it easily. Platinum does not require re-plating and is hypoallergenic.
Professional Maintenance
We recommend a professional inspection once a year. A jeweler will check prong tightness, structural integrity, and give your piece a thorough ultrasonic cleaning.
PAIJE Lifetime Warranty covers:
- Prong tightening and re-tipping
- Rhodium re-plating (white gold)
- Structural integrity repairs
- Professional cleaning and polishing
Normal wear, loss, and damage from misuse are not covered. Contact us at care@paije.co to arrange a warranty service.
