Ring Size Guide
Finding the right ring size is essential, especially for engagement rings and gifts. Use the methods below to measure at home, or visit a local jeweler for a professional sizing.
How to Measure Your Ring Size
Method 1: String or Paper Strip
What you need: A piece of string or a thin strip of paper, a ruler, and a pen.
Steps:
- Wrap the string or paper strip snugly around the base of the intended finger.
- Mark where the end meets the rest of the string/paper.
- Lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters.
- Use the conversion chart below to find your US ring size.
Tips: Measure at the end of the day when fingers are slightly larger. Measure 2-3 times for accuracy. If between sizes, round up to the next half size.
Method 2: Existing Ring
What you need: A ring that fits the intended finger, and a ruler.
Steps:
- Place the ring on a flat surface.
- Measure the inside diameter of the ring in millimeters.
- Use the conversion chart below to find your US ring size.
Tips: Make sure you measure the inside of the ring, not the outside. Use a ring that fits comfortably on the same finger you plan to wear the new ring on.
Method 3: Visit a Jeweler
Any local jeweler can measure your ring size for free using a professional ring sizer tool. This is the most accurate method, especially for engagement rings.
If you're buying a ring as a surprise, try borrowing one of their rings from the correct finger and hand — or ask a friend or family member to help.

Sizing Tips
Temperature affects finger size
Fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold. For the most accurate measurement, measure your finger at room temperature at the end of the day.
Band width matters
Wider bands (6mm+) fit tighter than thinner bands. If you're choosing a wide band, consider going up a half size from your usual measurement.
Dominant hand is usually larger
Your dominant hand's fingers are typically a quarter to half size larger than your non-dominant hand. Always measure the specific finger on the specific hand where you'll wear the ring.
