Getting your ring size right before ordering online is one of the most common concerns we hear — and with good reason. A ring that's too tight is uncomfortable; one that's too loose risks slipping off. The good news: measuring at home is straightforward when you know what to do.
Method 1: The Paper Strip Method (Most Accurate at Home)
- Cut a thin strip of paper about 6mm wide and 10cm long.
- Wrap it snugly around the base of your finger.
- Mark where the paper overlaps with a pen.
- Measure the length in millimeters.
- Compare to our Ring Size Guide.
Tip: Measure in the afternoon — fingers are slightly larger then. Also measure in warm conditions (fingers shrink in the cold).
Method 2: Measure an Existing Ring
Measure its internal diameter in millimeters and match to the size chart. Works well for surprise proposals.
US, UK, and EU Ring Sizes Compared
Ring sizing systems vary by country. The US uses numbered sizes (5, 6, 7…), the UK uses letters (J, L, N…), and continental Europe uses millimeter circumference. Our Ring Size Guide includes a full conversion chart for all three systems.
When to Size Up vs Size Down
- Size up if your knuckle is significantly larger than your finger base, if you have wide fingers, or if you tend to run warm.
- Size down if you have slim fingers that taper toward the tip.
- For wide band styles (over 6mm), go half a size up.
